i sang a song
music is my life. literally. i swear i heard my mums heart beat while i was inside her. the rhythmic pattern of those beats, that was music to my ears.
the early hummings of the sesame street theme song is remembered very well. i absolutely loved annie and the sound of music.
singing was a passion but got twarted by my mom's ambition as a frustrated pianist.
i was a trophy child. a virtuoso pianist in the making from age 5 to 15. i got involved in a lot of performances but was most popular for being able to play the piano well and singing.
i was young, i had to follow what the parents wanted. i didn't mind then, but as i got older wanting more freedom instead of 2 hour practices a day, i started to resent playing the piano.
i hated the fact that i had to show off to the friends and relatives that come by our place.
"it's a rarity to have that kind of talent, don't put it to waste" i was reminded constantly i was popular for having that. i competed a lot and won as well. i never was happy and my heart was never into it.
the only time i got my heart back into it was 10 years after i stopped playing it.
i wanted to write a song that's why. i played the piano once again. from the heart. and it feels so much better.
i finished my first song.
i remember the first song was inspired by love...."say that you love me,say that you need me, cos i can feel it too..." ( yes, it was my first attempt, excuse the cornyness of love lyrics).
i learned to really listen to songs, make meaning out of it. feel it. reflect on it.
